a two-day conference on the issues of library human resources management
Description of the Conference: This conference will be devoted to the current issues in library human resources management and will feature two keynote addresses and 12 workshops presented by nationally-recognized library HR practitioners.
Who Should Attend: This conference is open to anyone directly involved in or having interest in human resources management within the library organization. Library administrators, program managers, training specialists, and human resources managers and staff will enjoy the sessions of this conference.
Conference Location: The conference will take place on the campus of Arcadia University, in Glenside, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Arcadia University is close to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and about 30 minutes from center city Philadelphia (Directions to Arcadia).
Lodging: The official hotel for the conference is the Best Western Fort Washington Hotel in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, about 10 minutes from the Arcadia campus. To make a reservation, contact Judy Braun at 215-572-7930. The price of a single room (king size bed) is $89.00 per night + taxes. The price of a double room (2 queen size beds) is $95.00 per night + taxes. LMI is trying to arrange for free shuttle service to and from the Arcadia campus.

The Library Management Institute @ Arcadia University
The Library Management Institute offers workshops and conferences for the library community. Topics include marketing services, issues in human resources management and organizational dynamics, budgeting and financial management, and user dynamics. LMI is directed by Bob Kieserman, who has been a professor of business administration and a library consultant for over 22 years. He is currently Assistant Professor of Business/Healthcare Administration & Economics at Arcadia, where he teaches courses in human resources management, organizational behavior, hospitality management, healthcare administration, and non-profit management. He is also the owner of bob kieserman & company, a library consulting firm headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Bob earned his MBA from Temple University and his MLIS from Rutgers University. He is a member of the American Library Association and the Public Library Association as well as the New Jersey Library Association. He has written four books and over 80 articles, and is a frequent workshop presenter. Bob writes People Matters, a column on issues in library HR issues for The Bottom Line: Managing Library Finances, an Emerald Publishing journal. For over 15 years, Bob was Chief Executive Officer of The Kieserman Consulting Group, a nationally recognized management consulting firm that served clients throughout the country including many prominent libraries.

Keynote Address: Grayson Barber, Esquire
Grayson Barber is a First Amendment litigator and privacy advocate with a solo practice in Princeton, New Jersey. She does volunteer work for the American Civil Liberties Union and chairs the privacy committee of its New Jersey affiliate. A part-time lecturer at Princeton University, Grayson is immediate past chair of the Individual Rights Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and advises the Intellectual Freedom subcommittee of the New Jersey Library Association. She served on the New Jersey Privacy Study Commission and the state Supreme Court Special Committee on Public Access to Court Records. A graduate of Rutgers Law School in Newark, Grayson clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Cowen, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Formerly an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP, Amy specializes in employment and consumer-related issues. She has a simple take on the law: what you don’t know could get you sued. Amy has extensive media experience as a legal expert on television and radio. She is a nationally-syndicated legal correspondent whose segments are broadcast every weekday in twenty-five markets in seventeen states. She is an expert on employment law, and will be discussing some of the most current issues affecting the workplace.
